Head Start
Simple, easy-to-implement nutrition education that is fun & engaging
Imagine nutrition education that parents and children will understand and embrace. Dr. Sears has shown families that living and eating healthy does not need to be difficult or overwhelming.
Providing Head Start and Early Head Start parents and children effective nutrition education can be a challenge at times. Often parents are unable to grasp the information or obtain tools that will help them move towards healthier eating or more physical activity. All to often group education falls short in attendance or family service workers are unable to impact sustainable change in the home.
“As the Executive Director of SSDN, a Head Start preschool in St. Louis, Missouri, it was critical to me that we develop and implement a nutrition education program that made efficient and effective use of our grant money in a manner that best educated our diverse staff, students and families. The LEAN program information and LEAN Coach Becky Bishop are an excellent fit for our school. Becky tailored the LEAN information to match our school’s needs by developing a grocery list and recipes that fit into our families’ budgets and time constraints. The traffic light eating game and information she provided during visits to our students’ homes was easy to remember and provided simple and meaningful guidelines to help teachers, parents and students become life-long healthy eaters. Thank you LEAN and Becky for making us a healthier school!”
